We are blessed to have a strong and dedicated team - an essential and invaluable part of our success.
Led by the assistant trainers Karen Bowen, Peter's wife, previously a successful point to point rider, and her son Mickey Bowen who has rapidly gained a reputation as a trainer of point to point winners, and is a dedicated follower of the form book, advising on our entries.
The Jockeys that ride for us:
SEAN BOWEN - Sean is one of jump racing's leading jockeys, and a regular rider of winners for us. He was the youngest ever Champion Conditional Jockey when he won the title on the final day of his first season as a professional in 2015. At that season's "Lesters" night, Sean won two prestigious awards: he was voted "Conditional Jockey of the Year" by his fellow jockeys, and winner of the Jump Ride of the year in a public vote. His biggest success thus far is winning the bet365 Gold Cup for us in 2017 on Henllan Harri.
Before that, as an amateur, he won the Wilkinson Sword as the leading UK novice rider in point to point.
JAMES BOWEN - attached to the champion trainer Nicky Henderson's stable, James also rides for us. Aged just 16, he became the youngest ever jockey to ride the winner of the Welsh Grand National in 2018 on his way to becoming the youngest ever Champion Conditional Jockey, taking the record from older brother Sean.
These successes brought James the same two coveted "Lesters" in 2018 that brother Sean had won in 2015, and was named as BBC Wales Young Sportsman of the Year; he was also in the final three for the BBC national award. Coming up via pony racing, James rode his first winner with his first ride in points when barely 16 years of age. Swiftly joining the professional ranks he rode 57 winners in his first season, and is rising rapidly up the ranks of leading jockeys in the UK, recently riding his 100th career winner.
We also use TOM O'BRIEN, who also won the Champion Conditional Jockey title with us. Tom rode our Grand National runner-up Mckelvey, and twice won Aintree's Topham Trophy for us on Always Waining.
Amongst others, JAMIE MOORE, with over 400 winners to his name including the Scottish Grand National for us on Al Co. Jamie's renowned for his strong and persistent riding style.
